Not sure why it seems like I was the only one, but thanks to this site and FB Watching IBM I was prepared. I will not be providing specific information at this time. I did not have any out of office plans. Maybe it's because I'm a LOSER!!!! lol

to the original poster: were you going to be out of office the rest of the week? Trying to figure out why it seems you got notified early.

Really sorry to hear this and I realise it's become a bit of cliche on these boards but PLEASE remain positive and get your CV out there. Reach out to friends and colleagues on LinkedIn etc. and don't discount working for a much smaller company. After years of IBM corporate b---s--- and red tape, you'll truly be amazed in your new role when you come up with an idea and your manager simply says "get on with it then"..... no more 17 layers of sign-off and approval, just the freedom to achieve things and impress your peers and line management. I was where you were in 2016 and I really haven't looked back.

IBM is going all in on Cloud. (this means strategic, and As a service business model). Think skinny 1st world head counts. You only need 10% of the technical skills to market and service the cloud. Marketing/ Sales transitions to a fortune 250 worldwide strategy. Services will move to India or near shore (think low cost) and have a remaining skeleton crew in the USA, Europe, and other 1st world countries. Legacy moves to an IP strategy (except for Z), where IP harvests IBM’s legacy investment. Research remains on it’s current “patent” path. IBM will continue to invest 4-6 billion a year on “acquisitions” to show Wall Street a growth path. (call it the blind pig finds an acorn every once in a while). Essentially IBM has conceded that they can’t compete in the day to day operations vs more nimble companies, so they have gone to a hunker down Enterprise strategy, with cloud and as a service business model making it skinny
