Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

Citrix has new approach to keep layoffs quiet

The evil overlords (Elliott Group) decided that the two prior layoffs had too much of a negative impact in the eyes of our customers and partners which in turn affected the bottom line (which is ALL they care about). So, moving forward, they are going to have layoffs in small batches at a time (different departments/different locations/small numbers) while keeping a large "open" headcount that may not necessarily ever be filled. This will give the impression that Citrix is "hiring" and not laying off people yet again. The Evil Overlords demand blood. Period. Firing people is the easiest in their eyes. They do not care that Citrix loses very experienced and dedicated talent and then tries to replace them with completely green new hires that have no experience, far less talent and are only looking to Citrix on their resume, hang around for 3 to 6 months and move on to another company. I'm in sales, so I don;t know what some of the other departments are looking at but turn over on the Citrix sales team is absolutely horrendous just from people leaving. The marketing and channel team which were already understaffed and underfunded are basically skeleton crews at this point. Budget all around has been slashed for the last 4 quarters. It would be great if Citrix could get out from under the Evil Overlords (Elliott Group) so it could function and move forward as the amazing company it is and with the amazing talent it is barely hanging on to. Citrix's state now. Instead of developing innovative products, Citrix is busy and becoming master in developing innovative layoff systems.

Turnover in Sales has always been high, just like it was at the last 3 companies I worked for.

I just don't see any higher than normal turnover going on right now in my department or any of the others that I work with.

I have (had) a remote position so I do not know the status of others, I only know I lost my job today. "This is not due to your performance and I will gladly give you a shining letter of recommendation".

3 people from my team laid off today. Management said it's not a layoff, Citrix is just "downsizing" the department. They would not deny or confirm additional "downsizing" to come. I still have my job. I'll post if that changes. - Also, in regards to "open positions", we have had 3 "open reqs" for the last 3 months, posted on our site but that management was told they could not fill. So....the rumor mill around keeping things under wraps seems to be true.
