Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Whatever happened to taking away cell phones?

Our manager told us Band 3's were going to need to turn in their cell phones unless they are sales or field technicians. Everyone else would be strongly encouraged to connect their personal device to Honeywell to do work in off hours on their own dime. E.g. Pay $90 monthly cell bill so we can do company work and pay for it

Did Honeywell come to its senses for once???

Just a reminder folks, if you use a personal device or email account for company business, it can and will be subpoenaed, confiscated, etc. in case of any company problems. You can use this as very effective reason not to be coerced by management into using anything other than official company device and account for company business.

USA and Canada managers notified on Thursday. They were told to verbally tell their employees to turn in phones by May 1. Email direct to impacted employees goes out Apri 17. The rest of the globe will follow over the rest of the year as HR and Legal approve per country. There are still some disputes and exceptions pending review but 90% to be denied and hen those USA and Canada employees will be told. Since they already missed 4 months of savings, Band 4s will be later this year. Maybe by May or June

They are running out of things to take away....

I think they laid the team off that was preparing to take cell phones away. ;)

Our PC support person told me they were making plans to help with collecting and shipping them back when suddenly they were told plans were on hold. That was early March. Next billing cycle is approaching around middle of April so if we make to no of April maybe we get to keep them and continue to work for Honeywell after hours and weekends. Or they take them away and extra work ends..... clearly a win-win situation

If the bean counters above find u on their Excel spreadsheet u will be gone. They are always looking to cut, just haven't got around to your group yet. My cell phone saw lots of use, right up to the day I had to relinquish.

I'm band 3 and have had a cell phone for at least 7 years. Not field tech, not sales, just heavily relied up on from my team. Make yourself necessary and you won't get cut.

Happened last year in Aero ISC, three years after I was told I had to have one. Refused to use personal phone as a forward from my desk phone. I am getting brave in my last year before retirement!

They took them from band 3's in SPS. I assume they did the same in the other businesses as well.
