Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

It's time

Have been reading these posts for about a year now and have to say that I can feel your frustration and it is well deserved. We all set out on a career journey, hoping to land at a company that has great growth potential and character. In the case of Windstream, the potential was their, but a couple key decisions by the leaders have caused it to sink and we all know it won't survive. The growth potential is going backward and now it seems the leaders of the company are starting to lack character as well.

My suggestion is that you do something for you. When you make your next step, consider doing something different. Yes, you may need to take a pay cut and it might be painful for a while. With this new direction, you can escape this sector or the part of the sector you are currently in and reinvent your career path.

Truly wish the best of luck to all of you.

I agree with most of what is written in this thread .. get out while ya can. Took me a month but found a job with more pay, better benefits and associates that are a pleasure to be around (no stress of being laid off probably has something to do with that). Good luck to all.. you're a good bunch that has been getting p--ped on for a long time. You deserve better.

It took longer than I wanted but I too have found an opportunity with a pay raise and better benefits. It's a small company and the best part is they are kind, ethical and appreciate their employees. Get out ASAP. You will be amazed at much stress you are carrying without knowing it. Work takes up so much of your life - should only spend it at a place that values your contributions.

I willing to take a pay cut. I'm doing all I can to get out. No raises 2 years in a row. I'm done. The motivation is gone

"Toxic" is definitely an accurate word. Unfortunately, I would also call it an abusive relationship. However, just like most abusive relationships, the victim doesn't understand just how bad the situation is until after escaping.

You owe the place NOTHING. Get out!

Left in November, not RIF’d, decided on my own after being stressed for several years. Did not like the CEO’s treatment of employees and did not enjoy the constant turmoil/lack of direction! This is an extremely toxic place to work, not a healthy atmosphere for anyone...if you unfortunately are still employed here...start looking to get out. The job market is better, cut your losses and move on, this is my suggestion! No money is worth your sanity and peace of mind...a healthy work/life balance can be obtained but not at this company...they do not treasure or value their employees...move along for a happier and satisfying career! Good luck!

Being RIF’d was the best thing that happened to me. As a women, I was being paid well below my minimum. Now, 3 months later, I am making nearly double. I wish the best for Windstream and hope they can turn the ship in the right direction. No matter how well they could do, I would never go back. It’s a very toxic place to work.

Leaving was the best decision I could have made for my sanity, my career, and my family. I wish you all a safe landing getting clear if this burning building.
