Who knows when the contractors have to leave now that a surplus has been announced? Are they supposed to be let go now or on July 31st?

It’s funny. I was a contractor, now union employee. now with this level 3 merger the rumors are awesome. It’s funny to hear everyone complain about unions...I guess you’re welcome. Vacations, 40 hour work weeks, overtime, breaks, lunch breaks, osha...all union work brought these about. So without unions think about what you’d have. We’re not here to support the lazy or weak, we’re here to ensure big companies don’t take advantage of their employees. Best of luck.
They will be gone and then hired back, it's a chess game and misdirection, the contract extension last year was a set up for all this, really have to wonder how someone negotiating a contract should receive 500,000 for getting it approved. Kind of like a accused Murderer 's lawyer not fighting for his client and the DA paying his fees.
Contractors and the Union needs to leave. Its like dragging a boat anchor with you clowns. Level 3 is built for speed get out the way. Finally going to make some money this pig.
How’d that work out for ctl having contractors do the Portland switch conversion?
You guys btch, whine and moan about everything. Maybe since contractors tend to do twice the work in roughly the same amount of time they've figured out that they're more cost efficient. Plus....the horror stories I could tell about ctl techs shows it can go both ways. Employee or contractor...some care about their quality of work and some don't. Dont throw rocks when you live in a glass house.
15 Daye prior to resolution date is when the contractors need to be off the books. It is our job to not only make the company accountable fro these contractual items but the local and national union officials that we elect to bargain on our behalf. We must not sleep and assume that the bargaining is taking place to protect our present let alone our future. Stay focused my brothers and sisters and don't let the wool be pulled too tightly over your eyes.
Contractors are not the answer for a company, it’s like a rental house in a nice neighborhood, the owners (employees) take care of their house, but not the rentors (contractors), who don’t give a crap.
I had a tech over for a repair couple years ago, I was not home, my neighbor was at my house, tech rolls up, it’s a contractor for Centurylink , rusted out van, didn’t know what he was doing, didn’t have proper tools, AND needed to get a jump start to get truck going, embarrassed neighbors know who I work for.
Once the deadweight is gone the contract employees come back and fill in the blanks ... Bye bye birdie
We were told in Phoenix contractors will be gone 2 weeks before final layoff. So July 15th. But I don’t believe they’ll really be gone. To much work. And losing 40 techs in Phoenix and no overtime whose going to do the work.
