Thread regarding Southwestern Energy Co. layoffs

Being Laid Off

Being let go is not as bad as it seems. It’s a new birth, or the way I see it, fresh air for a change. It’s much like the movies, where in the beginning, the star is being released from prison. With box in hand and all eyes upon him, he takes that long stretch of a walk under heavy guard to the gates of freedom. As the gates open he may experience rain or sun. Either way, he’s out.

Much better time to be laid off. 2016 oil companies were not hiring. Currently oil companies are on an upward trend of hiring.

Don’t be so naive to hook up with an energy company and think you’re not going to get laid off at some point. Nobody, like in the past, graduates from college and works for the same company for 30 years. The rest will quit ahead of time for better opportunities.

Yeah, ok, much like the movies, stress at home, filing for unemployment, trying to provide for a family, having to sell the house you bought a couple years ago, just like the movies.

Depends on your financial situation I suppose. Probably pretty stressful with kids, mortgage payment, bills, then scambling to find another job. Will be hard to find something of equal pay right now too. Wish everyone the best..

So true. I was cut loose in 2016. It was liberating. T'was a SWN Shank Redemption.
