Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

It's not over for Walmart Transportation

It’s far from over. The WM people are being replaced in most of the Grocery DC’s. Driver pools will be reduced in those markets and moved out the RDCs.

Rumor has it down here that Companies are in discussions already with several transitions under way. Hub Group, CEVA, Swift, USX and few others were down here at the Home Office. The poor bastards in the field have no clue. In a year there will be no WM presence in Grocery or at least onsite.

Stores, DCs, Offices, if you’re not hiring then you need to worry.

This era will be known as “Mcmillan’s folly.” Giving up seasoned, healthy business and associates to chase low-to-no margin ecommerce business at this scale is a disastrous plan. Like most I am balancing on top of the wave and watching for a good jumping off place.

Overheard conversation that CEVA is taking over the Pottsville location. Transition will take place between now and the next 6-9 months. Some drivers will be transferred to surrounding DCs. The office and shop will be out.

It's not over for anyone that bleeds WM blue. Quick tip, stop being so loyal to a company that will do anything to "try" to compete with Amazon. The bid for Flipkart will definately spawn new layoffs to pay for yet another aquisition Wally can run into the ground. I once had high hopes for DM but as it turns out, he has been the biggest flop of a leader WM has had. Good luck with catching the Zon...it'll never happen, but you will destroy peoples livlihoods in the process of trying to stroke your own ego.

Yay! We are laying off people! Surely that will help us fight Amazon.

Look Wall Street! Look how many lives we are willing to sacrifice to fight Amazon for you!

ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED???!?!?

The more uncertainty they create the more people will quit which equals less severance.

It’s a huge shake up happening that is clear. I wouldn’t give up, make them pay out your severance you earned it.

As for the drivers they can shift them to other DCs. The office, shop and management staff at some locations that will be left on the side of the road.

I have an up close and personal view of the Walmart Transportation layoffs, er “displacements”.

They all but eliminated the saftey rewards programs, told the local offices to stop having cookouts for the drivers but for once a quarter and then only on one specific day(sorry if your off that day), took the Routing away from the local offices(who have the local knowledge of the area) and move to “central Routing” in a far distant location, cut out shop associates and office staff to basically Skelton crews and on and on.... none of this is a sign of a growing vibrant company. This company is in panic mode trying do to what looks good on paper but are actually shooting themselves in the foot.

In our local office many long time drivers are quitting, company wide the base pay for new hire drivers has been slashed and yet HR is constantly talking about how good the changes are... they’re really believe their own BS and the ship sinks around them
