Unfortunately, we live in a society where it is a stalemate.
If no unions existed, companies would run wild.
However, unions asking for more than what is fair have put a strain on companies as well.
It's really about people and culture. People should treat other people with respect plain and simple.
Without a union, conversation between management and employees can go off the rails. However, having a union does not make it better. Having a union eliminates the conversations all together because management know anything they say can be brought up on a grievance.
The only time management and unions talk is over a negotiating table.
Maybe we should look at being humans and not expecting things to be handed to us.
