Layoff tips and tricks

LAYOFF Tips and Tricks

Folks, As we’ve just made it through dreaded tax season, we also have May 10th right around the corner, and it’s time to start prepping! While all of us (520 of us) probably don’t know what the future holds for us, we hope these “tips and tricks” help you manage your pending layoff that much easier.

Rule No 1: if you haven’t done so already, devoid your workspace of anything personal. This way your exit on the day of layoffs is a quick in and out. No thinking should I take this or that. Boom! You gone!

Rule 2: Immediately save any documents from your PC and take them home on a jump drive. No matter what they say, you’ll never have a chance to get those back!

Rule 3: take some longer lunches. Who cares, right?

Rule 4: those free sodas are free. Drink more of those bad boys.

Rule 5: come in late, leave early. Again, you’re about to get canned. Who cares.

Rule 6: Use your downtime to start prepping your personal sales pitch or honing in on your dream of starting a business.

Good luck, everyone!

I maxed out my FSA and spent it all before benefits ran out last time and never heard anything about it even though it never fully funded. So go ahead and get that dental or eye work you've always wanted.

Use your heath care insurance benefits while you still have a job.

Also, If you’re going to need the cash now, You might consider stop contributing to your 401k plan. This is a tough decision because the company matches with free money. Look at your personal finances and act accordingly
