"Those associates that are eligible will receive severance and have the opportunity to apply for open positions at area Sears or Kmart stores." DO NOT wait until it is too late because more than likely you are NOT eligible for severance. They closed 1 Sears and 4 Kmart's in the last year in my city. There is only 1 Sears store left in this city so everyone will not be offered a job at this 1 store. It is time too fill out a resume and move on. There is still better jobs out there.

Looks much like the one I had to read and sign at work back in Jan.

We closed on April 8th as was stated, but I can say that yes, a bunch of us did stick around for about 10 more days (yesterday, the 19th was our last) to take fixtures apart and clean up the place. Mostly it was MCAs, back room folks, managers, and one full timer from LP (though an LP part timer was there one day to help with LP stuff). Our cashiers were done the 8th. Our full timers did get a package (though I'm not sure if it was severance or their pension), with the remaining people not getting it until yesterday. (As a part timer I got nothing, despite my often at or near full time hours...) A few of our people did choose to transfer to the next nearest store and seemed to get in okay.
