Enormous potential for Kmart

We hear all the time people saying that they didn't know Kmart still existed and it made me think of the huge potential for Kmart. There are so many millions of potential customers who haven't been in Kmart for over a decade and they are potential Kmart converts. Once they get in the store and use the rewards they'll see the benefits of Kmart. Kmart has the right mix of nostalgia, good prices, rewards, and better assortment to really be the hit of the discounter world. Kmart is going places, the path up is going to be fun for those of us who have ALWAYS believed in Kmart. Come joint the party, Kmart is back!!

@2jsv Usually boxed foods are good for months, but canned foods are good for YEARS. If you see canned goods still on the shelves at your Kmart just a few days away from expiring, they've probably been sitting unbought for something like 3 years.

Do not believe what is posted about fresh. The Des Plaines store is a dump. Food items such as canned goods which have expiration dates of at least 6 months in other stores are expiring within a few days at this store. Produce is anything but fresh. The cashiers are rude and are always different; they do not know anything about the SYW program and do not care to learn about it. I made the mistake of doing a store pickup at that store. Cashier claimed to be the only employee in the store mid-morning and could not leave the register to retrieve the order. Did not know when or if a 2nd cashier would be available as the person scheduled was 2 hours late. Had to return another day to get the order.

What potential? They eliminated most of their full time employees last year, and closed many stores. Come back to us when there is actual growth in Kmart

So this is what Kmart employees do during their work time? No wonder it won’t make it. Go postin the Kmart Layoffs yo-yo

Yes exactly like the one in des plaines. They have done it in a handful of stores across the country and in most markets it seems to be taking off well. People like having quick access to grocery (produce, meat, baked goods, dairy, etc). It’s too bad the last super Kmart closed a few weeks ago. The company never really took off with the format and let it die. Grocery is a competitive business, hopefully they can make it work with k fresh.

@oss, is that like the one Des Plaines Illinois? I've never been to it in person, but I've seen it on Google Maps and it is definitely awesome and the way for them to go!

I will say that I thought the “k fresh” test they have been doing In a few stores seems like a great idea and a wonderful answer to the now gone super Kmart format. I hope they can expand it to more stores.

@feq, they only won't have a future if they don't believe have they have a future before it's been played out. If the employees don't believe in a future then there won't be a future.

@qop - Unfortunately, that luck won't do them any good, since they have no future. Regardless, thank you for the generous thought.

@qop, It would be nice if everyone had your attitude! Honestly I don't understand why so many do wish for a company that employs hundreds of thousands and delights millions of shoppers, to fail! Nice to see some positivity for a change!
