I don't think you'll see a lot of step downs for DLs due to the pay gap to go back to the store (Particularly unlicensed). Also not too many RDs will probably allow the DLs to step down since they chose this position for better or worse. 2 of my peers were told no when they asked to step down. Now they only have two options stay or quit.
Not true in LI/NY area. No step downs
Check again because that’s not true. There were voluntary step downs over the last few weeks. There are open spots now.
No one has quit in our area, Al, Ga, Fl
East Coast (N. Carolina, Georgia & Florida) has quite a few of these new DLs step down already. They didn’t like the new role and/or found different employment elsewhere. Many of these spots are still open - very odd?
