Do you have any info on this? Does Electronic Arts have plans to buy Mattel? If yes, what's the plan. I am not fishing for insider info, I am just curious about what the rumors are. I do not work for either company but I am interested in the industry... Anyhow, please share any info you may have.

Yep, I heard that too. She rejected the Hasbro offer last year and now rejected the EA offer. Board wasn’t happy, so they moved to force her out. Let’s see what Ynon can do. Maybe, he can save the company and turn things around so the takeover talk will stop.
I heard she's leaving because she doesn't want Mattel to goto EA. And now the deal is off because of her and she's still going.

What a silly rumor. Mattel would love to own EA, but not vice versa. Even if EA was interested in acquiring a hardlines company, they could throw a rock and hit a more capable manufacturer without the baggage and overhead of this dump. Their only possible area of interest would be licensing IP for Hot Wheels or Barbie games, and they certainly don't need buy the rest of this failing, flailing company to get those. In Mattel's current shape, those are probably available for a song. Amy Shumer bailed on the Barbie movie. How long before Anne Hathaway heads for the hills?
Hmmm, I heard that Kilpin is nudging Activision to buy Mattel. Start spreading THAT rumor to make RD sweat it out and head for the hills himself.
Nearly right. Mattel mustered all of its technical expertise and is soon releasing electronic UNO for DOS, not iOS. Green screen, blinking cursor, the works. It crashes frequently, but hey, it's good enough for Mattel. 386 computer required, not Windows compatible.
According to a very reliable source with intimate knowledge of the situation, either EA is buying Mattel or they're working together on a new UNO game for iOS, not sure which one but one of these is defiantly going to be announced in the next few weeks.
Battlefield takes on Gl Joe?
EA Sports to dominate Nerf?
Need for Speed meets Hot Wheels?
Sims as Barbie or Polly Pocket?
EA and Mattel Los Angeles offices practically next door.
Finally, Call of Duty and Barbie under one roof.
Mattel has been plagued with lower sales for the past few quarters. This is because growing demand for a broad array of alternative modes of entertainment, including video games, MP3 players, tablets, smartphones and other electronic devices, from companies like Electronic Arts, Inc. EA is posing a threat to the Mattel and other toy makers. Simply put, EA has products kids want to play with.
Buying is very unlikely . . . and i'm just some random person on the internet posting to this thread! no validation, no truth, no credentials that I have any association with either companies.
Rumors are fun and trolls love them!! Take a breath and step back from the computer.
I heard that Burger King was buying us to make their happy meal toys. Nah, we'd screw that up too.
No, it's fur real, friends! And the word gullible is not in the dictionary. I swear.
I spoke with someone that would have some insight to these situations, and they thought it was BS. Although, I wish it is true, myself.
total BS. EA DOESNT HAVE THE $$$
Interesting - not sure if bs or not. Not sure why EA would want all of Mattel's properties. If they did this, would expect them to sell off various divisions.
That would much better news than the BS we were served up today.
From what I understand Mattel has excepted EA's offer and they are now just ironing out the details. As the previous poster suggested, expect an official announcement prior to the yet to be scheduled Q1 earnings call.
I can confirm it is effectively a done deal, expect an announcement soon, most likely sometime late next week.
Talks have been ongoing and heating up, but of course there is no official announcement just yet. Our internal strategy has already shifted to med / high tech, game / toy hybrid, across all price points - very low to high. In this scenario EA will handle the software and Mattel will develop physical elements... both would leverage established brands respectively. Future of play.
