Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Ridiculous status quo

suffocated with layers of incompetent managers who are "safe" because they play a next level politic. When the hell is MSD going to fire their useless big loud mouth.

MSD likes the syncopates, plays to his huge ego. The merger with EMC was the biggest ponzi scheme in High Tech history. It is failing but MSD is out on a buying spree for new planes and homes using the companies money just as he did to take Dell private to begin with. He hasn't really done anything of note since college and that was only to put Demmings JIT manufacturing process into the PC market. MSD will make billons on this deal while the employers take pay cuts hidden by impossible metrics so less commissions, bonus etc, get laid off to make managers numbers look better and Dell continues on its guard rail to guard rail manner with no clear direction. We are a end to end solutions company, no wait we are a Data Center Company , no wait we haven't got a friggin clue but thats ok the top 1% are making a killing retiring or leaving with fat pay envelopes. Can't wait to leave soon.

cascade kpi is important. we are in where we are because the managers that we have are like dinosaurs trying to figure out internet, they don't do metrics.

Many managers, or wannabe managers are taught to manage up. I have one, not at MSD, that refuses to manage his own team. However, he manages the teams interaction with who we report to extremely well. As the next level only cares about what they receive they are very happy with him and refuse to even entertain that this person needs to change. When a few of us brought it up as a problem the complaint was turned around on us and repeated back that what he was hearing was that 'we' had a problem with our manager, not that the manager was not doing his job. The problem became one of addressing how 'we' could change and improve our interactions with this particular manager, rather than how this manager could change/improve.
