Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Wednesday's the day?

Based on a post just now on Watching IBM on Facebook, there are all-hands calls in UK on Weds (Cognitive) and Fri (Cloud) in the sales/tech sales groups and there will be very big cuts made. I'm still betting for the US the axe will come down on Weds this week. Nothing to back it up as far as that day, but I've been told by someone who is part of the process in management that it's this week. Reportedly 1Q is going to be a disaster and undo any goodwill gained from the manufactured 'beat' in 1Q.

As always with IBM, this indicates a big RA

@lnh I am with you on this one (the conference) - however, @fnt has a good point

We'll know soon

I fear this will be a big one

I don't see THINK being a factor. Many (in sales) have been forbidden to attend the conference. I suspect the limited list of IBMers in attendance will not be subject to the RA. Those not allowed to attend......well...we will soon find out.

Sure, but when have the higher ups been known to make sensible decisions?

I'd be surprised if they did anything in the US before Think next week. Seems like an awful idea to have a large RA (assuming Sales is impacted) right before a major conference.

I have no inside details, just guess. But since last month's RA was a two week notice and last day was end of month....my bet is for Friday; as this aligns well with March 30th.
