Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Did Anyone else receive raises at their store?

There is a post on here by someone whose store completed cross training and said that the employees in the store with a year or more of service received raises. My store has not received anything like that. We are still mourning the loss of some key people who were let go during the layoffs.

We were told we would be getting a small raise up completion of the cross training. Unfortunately the bozos I work with are doing everything they can to screw the completion up.

Former backroom/store support lead here. Was told that Sears "does not do" raises by the SGM and the market (district) HR. As you know, the store support changeover increased the workload and responsibilities for formerly titled backroom associates and leads.

So, during the meeting that was held that explained what all was encompassed in our new roles, I asked one more time if there was a raise in the pipeline, was told no again. Mind you, the new roles encompassed more duties and responsibilities.

A consider that in my role as backroom lead, the backroom was brought back on process in less than a month of me being in that role, which included righting the ship as several things were critically deficient and the backroom team was more or less complacent about how they did things. I am not one to approach for raises unless I have substantiative and supportive reasons which would corroborate the argument for a raise.

Since it was clear Sears wanted more for less and thought that was OK, I promptly put in my notice and found my own raise outside of the company.

If you want a raise, it doesn't look like you will get one (with "possible" rare exceptions--i was told "exceptions" don't exist so I'm not sure if it's true or not, or maybe it was confused with mandatory raises), so you will have to pack up and leave, which is good to do anyways, raise or no raise--just look around. Sears is a flaming wreck.

I’m guessing it was one of the many “jokes” on here. People think they are being so hilarious, but honestly it’s getting difficult to figure out what is some stupid joke and what is something that actually happened or is going to happen

I call that BS no way anyone is getting a raise unless you get a higher position. Unless your a favorite or a great tool you might be getting a small pocket change raise out of anything.

Only raise I got was because of the government other than that no raises here.

Employees who complete the training receive a raise in SYW points, good for no more than 10% off chosen merchandise and expiring 2 weeks from the date of issuance.

You get a new in store ladder. That is your raise.

@xrk "The economy" doing well has no bearing on individual companies flailing and failing.

No raises at my store. The SGM is slimy though.

@xrk that wouldn't be a layoff but a firing for cause.

I bet the raise is between 15 cents and 35 cents an hour. If there is such a raise. Because it hasn't come to my store yet.

I saw the post under the one about cross training. The person claims cross training completed for the store and the opportunity to train in other stores. Plus a small raise.

Cross training fell apart at my store because no one wanted to do it. Me included because most folks in my store already pitch in when and where needed to the best of their abilities. Not being officially cross trained is not what is making the sales in my store less than what they could be. We've gone over the Whys countless times on here.

Now about that raise ...

The economy is doing well so there shouldn't really be any layoffs, unless productivity needs to be improved.

I'll believe it when I see it. If true and it's anything less that 50 cents an hour it's an insult.
