Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Health insurance question

So, if I am laid off, does it mean I lose my medical coverage immediately? AT the end of the month? Once I receive severance?

Been trying to find an answer to this, but so far I have had no luck.

I'm not all that scared of being laid off, but losing my coverage is another story.

I'd appreciate any info on the subject.

To the last two replies - The "How long do I keep my benefits" thread was about someone leaving voluntarily for a new job. I think the RA package is different, and didn't want to rely on older threads here since it's always changing (for the worse). The Feb package, if someone here posts details, might be the best info we have. Until next week when we get the real deal, that is.

It would be great if anyone from the RA last month could say more. I'm not the OP but I'm confused too. It's anonymous here, so maybe give some sample rates for your situation? I thought we got our normal rate/coverage for 6 months or something, then COBRA? Is there still a $2,500 educational allowance for retraining? Since the last one was two weeks notice and out on the last day of the month, it would be pretty brutal if that was also the last day of normal coverage/rate!

Thru the EOM and your COBRA kicks in after (if you decide to purchase it )
