Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Is this Dell behavior recommendations or just the management I am seeing?

Lately, I have been seeing low - mid level managers exhibiting behaviors similar to back in the late 80's - early 90's, where companies treated you with an attitude that you were lucky to have a job. Consequently, management would make the staff do work that they knew the staff didn't want to do just to try to drive them out. I surmised this was a tactic to save the additional costs of severance packages.

I have started to see that attitude and behavior resurface over the past year, something that didn't really exist in the EMC culture.

Has this been the attitude/behavior within the Dell culture, or is this isolated to the management I am witnessing?

Trust me there is no shortage of jobs out there. If your manager is treating you like sh--, take the clue and find somewhere your talent is appreciated. It's easier to find a job when you have a job. Just use your sick time to interview. It's not like you get to keep all the time off they give you.

Well, that culture most certainly did exist at EMC. The only time they would relent would be when they drove someone to a heart attack because they couldn't collude and cover up that heart attack like they can the harassment. But, then it was right back to their sleazy dirtbag tactics for the next group. Sometimes they drag out layoffs hoping to make people so miserable they leave on their own so they dont have to pay severance. I was lucky, they drove a guy in my group to a heart attack so they backed off and finally laid us off less than a week later and we got our severance pkg. You know that heart attack pi$$ed them off. When I told the div director of CS, he didnt even ask if the guy was ok, he just wanted to know who it was, swear he didn't even want to know if he was alive. They are some lowdown dirty dbags who only care about their pockets and that is some real bs for people to act like this doesnt occur at EMC. It is their SOP and the good ole boy club's mantra. It will all come full circle and pretty sure there isnt a huge market for clueless talentless incompetent overpaid pretend managers.

Or perhaps it's only isolated to you.

Last I heard no one is forcing you to work at Dell EMC.
