Thread regarding Sears layoffs

ft40 transitioned to 30pt in management

Did the management that got demoted also get a pay reduction since they are now considered part time?

Is it to minimum wage?

Going to another Kmart or Sears is getting harder the more the close. We used to have 6 or 7 Sears and Kmart within an hour of our store. Now the nearest one is 3 hours away. Not really an option to transfer to another store.

When ever you leave the company, you have 90 days to return to any location if you want to keep your service years and vacation. You can take your 8 weeks of severance and return after you have used it up and still keep your original hire date. That is if there are any positions available that you want to take. You can even go to Kmart from sears and sears from Kmart and still keep your original date so long as it is within 90 days

ASM were let go and most were offered to apply for the supervisor zone rep which is the same thing we were doing at a lower rate of pay unless you negotiated and got cap which is just about what all ASM's are making anyway. The only difference is hourly vs salary if you work over 40 you get overtime and if you are offered a TPP again max if 8 weeks instead of up to 20 as an ASM

Every time someone puts up with this cr*p and comes back at less pay, more work, they are just telling the company that doing this to employees is OK. If everyone would just find another job then the company would be hurting for employees and they would stop doing it this way.

I know it is hard, but the more you let someone take advantage of you the easier it is for them to do it the next time. Have some pride and walk away, do not let them treat you like this!

I can see this will really hammer the original part time associates that have availability issues

I think all the hours will be given to the original full timers first then original part timers will get the crumbs

When those ft40 now pt30 people go on vacation since they get to keep their bank that will be when original pt people get more than 10 hrs.

Does anyone k ow if they took a pay cut?

FT40 hourly (non-management) associates got downgraded to FT30 in our store......

The layoffs in our store involved a few FT30 associates....Those associates can come back part time and not lose their service and vacation banks if they come back within a certain amount of time.....or they can choose not to return and get an 8 week severance package.

@kiv- I heard one asm was coming back under this new platform

Which I think is insane too-

Now our softline lead and jewelry lead were not let go and they didn’t have to re apply. Do the ones that didn’t let go keep 40 hrs and amount of pay or will they go down to max 30 hrs at same rate of pay?

We don’t have a shoe lead

And I haven’t heard if our backroom lead that was let go will be coming back yet. Don’t know how much time they were given to decide

I can just see more strange things happening with this platform with the original part timers that are already getting reduced hours now getting even less hrs with new made up requirements to be classified as part time such as open availability when that is WHY we are part time in the first place!
