Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

DXC Work Environment

So i decided to quit my job at DXC. It was a multitude of issues, but at the end of the day I had found something which was more to my liking with a local competitor. I was very nice with my manager, and he understood completely. It was obvious, there was no point trying to keep me around, since there was nothing DXC could do to keep me. But then other people started to leave the department shortly after, within days or less than a week. I feel so guilty and at the same time, I know they would have quit anyways. It just feels like I caused it.

Instead of quitting perhaps take a long lunch and charge the time to training or BAU (if you are lucky). If DXC want to stuff you around then they need to wear the costs of doing so!

You have now 2 employees in the company. one group that decided to leave, and another group that decides to still hang around until they get a WFR.

The way management is treating the employees, I can not believe there are still happy employees around. You should not feel guilty - just run and feel happy at work again in a normal company.

"this might have been precisely what DXC wanted"

Of course it is!

Crushing of employee morale to make you walk is exactly what they are doing. Saves all those expensive redundancy cheques if you choose to leave.

The biggest way that you can proudly stick two fingers up at Mikey is to not leave until you are pushed....

Really, do NOT feel guilty. DXC has actively chosen to aggressively cut benefits, increase work, and eliminate job security across the board. You need to protect yourself first. Sure the client you are serving will suffer, but until management starts seeing clients leave, the behaviors will get worse and worse.

And just bluntly, this might have been precisely what DXC wanted. Now they can backfill you with an offshore person with minimal skills and fresh out of college. I am 100% sure this is a big part if the strategy - push up attrition by making everyone that is paid well miserable, backfill in India, Vietnam, anywhere else where labor protection is weak and labor is cheap -thus making it easy to exploit the workforce.

As someone that was RIFed from CSC just over a year ago, I can tell you I honestly I wish I had quit 2-3 years earlier. I naively thought the CSC/HPE Merger would be an opportunity for a new, powerful company to rise from the ashes. Holy cr@p was I wrong on that! Reading here, it seems like Mike took on HPE as a fresh source of blood to drink after the CSC carcass was emptied.

Best wishes for success and growth. As stated earlier you did not cause anyone to do anything. We are adults and competent to make decisions about our lives which includes staying at DXC for some people-everyone has reasons to stay or leave.

Congrats on your new job! You'll be happier there, and DXC is happy not to pay your salary anymore if you're an American worker. It's a win-win!

Congratulations on the new opportunity!

It's perfectly normal to feel conflicted about leaving a job. Especially if you're happy with your coworkers. Just know that you didn't cause anyone to do anything. They're adults who made their own decision, and probably for a very similar reason to you.

In my own experience, I haven't spoken with a single person who isn't looking for a better opportunity.

I am planning to leave soon too. Have discussed with one teammate and we may face similar scenario.

It just takes “the first one”.

If it wasn’t you it would have been someone else and it is not your fault. It’s the result of this company treating people like consumables.

Good for you! Congratulations and all the best on your new journey! :-)
