why would Noble do this? aren't the losing acquisitions of Clayton Williams and Rosetta enough? Management has lost its mind

That would a great marriage. The blind leading the blind.
Great idea 7dhp! Chesapeake would be an excellent match for Noble. Both are filled with arrogant management and both are loosing HUGELY! Two peas in a pod!
Will Noble buy out Chesapeake in case Stover is tired of laying people off?
Hey, Cheerios Guy... see, see what ya did? XOM stock down $10 3/4 on YOUR rumor! Just the thought of a Noble takeover wiped $45 billion off their market cap! It certainly says something about the markets view on the matter. Curiously, the BP drop wasn’t as bad. Must be related to the lingering Macondo liability. ;-)
Noble Has perfected the buy high sell low strategy. Nobody does it like they do.
Correct. RRC shares are far too low. If they quintuple in 3-6 months then maybe they'll catch DS eye.
we will NOT be acquiring RANGE!!!!
Will they reopen PA office?
Whatever it is, you can trust Noble to make a bad decision. It’s a core value.
Lease on office space? That’s a great reason to spend billions on buying a company. But for Noble it’s as good a reason as any. They aren’t capable of making rational economic analysis.
If we are buying BP too I'd guess we would consolidate to their new Denver headquarters. It makes a lot of sense I guess. Probably move all Denver people to the new BP office in Denver and all Houston folks to Exxon's headquarters in Dallas.
I believe cheerios guy too. Does that mean we'd move headquarters to dallas once we took over Exxon? I'm not big on having to move to Dallas.
There is a thred about this in the Bonus discussion. Looks like Range is not the target. But both BP and Exxon are. A guy saw it in his cheerios. He swears his cheerios have always been right about these things. I think I believe him. He sounds pretty convinced.
WOW - that would be interesting! let me see if I understand the business strategy. First attempt to build your own presence in the Marcellus. Do a good job, but have a terrible relationship with the JV partner. Sell everything at a substantial loss. Then buy back into the Marcellus by purchasing a stand alone company like Range. Seems reasonable to me.
Premium Marcellus position and already have a lease on office space!
