When our stock price jumps nearly 10 percent and reaches its highest value in seventeen years despite the whole circus surrounding the security flaw, it means that we must be doing something right.
I know people here love to hate on Intel, but can you give props for once where props are due?
The current earnings and stock value are a result of years of hard work from experienced people. The investors and CEO have made a mistake, thinking that they now don't need the "old expensive employees" and can dump them for new grads. Just watch, after they dump all their talent, the stock will go down. All their predatory policies and age discriminatory layoffs are killing the goose that lays the golden eggs.

Stock prices going up has nothing to do with how well a company is doing. It is all about making a killing in the stock market by buying low and selling high. That low might be on Monday and the high be on Wednesday or it could be a few weeks down the road. Has very little or nothing to do with the company. If you buy a few thousand shares and wait for them to go up as little as .75 in one day then sell them (they go up and down during the day), you make $1500 in one day on the buy and sell of 2 thousand shares. That is what day trading is all about. Don't be fooled into thinking that stock value is based on the value of a company, it is not.
