Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

The Pepsi Paradox

Such a sad time in PepsiCo’s history.

Economy is roaring, corporate tax rate has been slashed and PepsiCo is laying people off.

I don’t get it. So tired of all the years of layoffs.

We’ve dealt with the nonsense for way too many years.

Please.... someone figure it out that Indra is all about Indra.

She’s here to make herself rich at the expense of hard working people.

All that work we put in constantly filing out forms to stop the Beverage Tax in Illinois. Attending protests, etc and look what happens.

The company is under no obligation to be loyal to you, nor are you guaranteed lifetime employment. The employees don't "feel the pain as they are laid off to protect the shareholder" as much as they fail to deliver the value the company pays for their services. If they were worth as much as they were getting paid, they'd have no problem going to another business and getting the same salary.

Remember smart spend?? No one abides by it...ask the folks who book executive travel...they still using car services, jets, high priced hotels, dinners, meetings as fun events.

If you believe the 30% reduction in travel was meant for entire company your wrong...it was a tool to use against low level and to help let people go if their boss didn't like them.

I agree no one drinks pop anymore but we invested so much useless money in "healthy" brands...what happened to mueller yogurts? They need to look at where they waste money. That's the issue...flying around on jets with one or two people on board it is ludicrous. It happens daily

Agreed just look at what is happening at KO and KHC. It is hard to prepare for these things, but they happen. If we can share information rather than political opinions on this site maybe some of us can plan... like should I start talking to recruiters? Is the package worth waiting? Which sites / teams will be worst hit?

Again, fire Indra and get someone at the helm capable of growing the business. It may mean we have to adjust course. But Indra only knows one lever to pull for profit.... CUT CUT CUT!!! It’s time for a pro growth agenda and Indra lacks that ability. While shareholders are important, they invest for the short term while employees at PepsiCo have generally taken a more long term view. So why is it the employees have to feel all the pain as they are laid off in order to protect the shareholder. Tough balance but it seems the scales are tilted way off to ensure the protection of the wealthy.

It's not hard to understand. People are drinking less pop YoY, why would they need the same number of people at HQ to manage less volume? Indra works for shareholders and they want what they want.
