Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Here we go again..... listen to Tom Brady! Age vs. Time is foolish!

It's that time again.

Please post here if you hear of layoffs at Dell companies , do you see a pattern of a target age group, gender, ethnicity, skill set, location, etc?

Please help make sure you and others at your company are treated fairly.

There is a long standing belief that Dell companies that diversity of age and gender are not valued so these persons are first the targeted at layoff time. Sure Layoff's happen as a course of business at many companies and yes our world is changing faster than ever- but even Tom Brady says that the older he get's the better he plays- so why would Dell or Dell EMC lay off older workers? Experience = faster time to $$$$$

Layoff is an easy way to avoid HR process.

I was laid off over a year ago. Yes, over 50 and had just trained my replacement. I had just completed a not so complimentary Tell Dell survey which are supposed to be annonamous. My manager was a narcissist and his entire team would say so privately. My mistake was being honest. Never fill out Employee surveys. They are not annonamous and not used to make Dell a better place. Lesson learned.

"My team couldn’t understand as I was one of the few in my role that actually had consistent results."

There you have it. All the numbers in Dell are b---s---s!!! Horsecrap!!! Get the worst KPI pulling the whole goddamn team down then get promoted because you are a favorite and master of excuses! VPs and Directors love their asses licked not results!

It is the usual practice out here in India, it is not specific to Dell. Every 3-5 years have a RIF of 10-30% and then run around in colleges to hire low priced grads, the cycle continues. India is highly populated country with too many job aspirants. Manager pumps up the fresh produce until it gets stale and pricey, few who know how to manage politics and survive, make it to management. They run the show for same budget for years, add to that rupee devaluation of around 10% each year. Those who are affected don't go to HR or to court, government doesn't care as it gets it income tax regardless. Slowly people are realizing the con, they are talking of union of technology industry employees, so that at least proper notice and severance packages are handed out.

I have seen several aged folks 50+ in Dell. They are white elephants who are not updated with the latest technology. Dell can always get someone twenty years younger with more energy techncal knowledge. Dell is here to make profit and that is how company survivies. Dell is not a charity house.

Age discrimination has been the primary driver for over a year. Salaries are higher so the experienced, over 50’s, are the first to go. I was laid off at the top of my game and was mentor to many folks over the years. My team couldn’t understand as I was one of the few in my role that actually had consistent results. Within 6 months, half my team left and they were all the top performers. Dell reaps what they sow.
