Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Good things ahead

For those who lost your jobs today, I’m sorry. I was also part of a RIF ( not this one) along with my entire department. When it happened I was more angry than sad. My manager was an inept ninny who could not have handled the process worse if she tried.

Within 30 days of my departure I got a great job offer from a very reputable company who cares about their employees. Much better compensation and great benefits. So congratulations on a brighter future. When you land in a better place (and you will) you will kick yourselves for not getting out sooner. Speaking as someone who has been there, one of the best things that ever happened to me was getting layed off.

I was part of the layoff today. When I hired on less than a year ago as a OSP Construction Manager, I was assured the job was secure. Little did I know the company was run by complete idiots. To think I left $100k and 10 yrs at at&t for this job. I got an email yesterday from Frank Wilcox that simply said “conf call”. He was even less polite on the call. Very cold and heartless! Hope he and Tony Thomas sleep well tonight! Biggest mistake of my life was working for Win. And I feel sorry for their customers knowing how little they actually care about them or their service!

So another Windstream layoff today? I was part of a RIF there several years ago, but I did not land a dream job afterwards. I have been lucky to survive on part time jobs. Too old and over qualified I have been told more than once. My manager also bungled the process and flat out lied to me about who in my group was being laid off. So much for respecting the process. The company HR rep was no help either. I am surprised the company has not imploded from lack of process. Good luck to all who bit the dust! Life goes on.
