Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Automation! Yeah right!

Mikey's vision of the future is the automation of everything. It is the ranting of an old man (I'd say a mad man) who does not have a grip on reality or the technology available today. This idea has been kicking about for probably well over a century. It's funny how it has not really ever taken off. We are more technologically advanced now than we have ever been. Yet, AI is still in it's infancy. We can't even build self driving cars which don't randomly kill people or are able to make moral/ethical decisions or even create a chatbot which passes the Turing test. So, we are far far away from building bots which can generate reliable code able to replace workers who undertake complex tasks which Mikey and his minions are seemingly so convinced is just around the corner. All of us here now will be long dead before that scenario unfolds. Thankfully Mikey will be gone before most of us :)

Employee salary of 25000 seems a wee bit too high for the code (unless that refers to a Grad. Better knock it down to 20000.

@RjJm1xG-5lma you forgot to define some variables at the top

Mikey.Salary == $42000000

Mikey.Watches == 2

and you also forgot to insert a line after this one:

KeepEmployee == false

You need:

Mikey.Bonus == Mikey.Bonus + employee.salary

It is true that automation and AI is encroaching... but Mikey's vision is implausible in the time frame he's envisaging. Although, you'd think that the bumbling ineptitude of the current management and management structure could be easily replaced with some half arsed coding written by a 12 year old.

Here is some pseudo code which could replace the upper management:

function KeepOrDump(employee)

{

if ((employee.salary <= 25000 and employee.age <= 40) and epmployee.canStringTwoWordsTogether)

{

KeepEmployee == true;

}

else

{

KeepEmployee == false;

}

return KeepEmployee;

}

Automation is much easier to pontificate about than to actually implement.

It's coming though just not as soon as Mickey would like.

Where are the sales people to adopt and sell Mikey's vision? Clearly they do not want to be associated with it, otherwise we would have seen more bowing down to the chief buffoon.

Sounds like Mikey wants to automate his pay check and bonuses! Everyone bow to the chief a--wipe.

It would be really funny - if it would not be so damnd serious. How can such an individuum became CEO? There is no creativity, no good idea, no interesting vision - but such a person is the leader? There is something wrong in America. Maybe in the whole society. This can be done better. Much better.

We could probably replace Mikey with a short shell script that does random lookups on the HR database to remove employees to meet this quarters figures combined with another piece of code that rejects every PO authorisation.

Use one of the BS generators and a bit of text to speech and that's the quarterly analyst calls fixed.

Lastly, for the videos to staff, again wheel out the BS generator and put a sad looking potato with a face drawn on it and two watches in front of the camera.

There you go, I've saved the share holders about $40 mill a year.
