Another skills profiling tool

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/01/16/dxc_execs_set_yet_another_deadline_for_skills_profiling/

DXC expects employees to enter their skills in yet another POS skills profiling tool. Enough is enough ... how many more tools are needed to analyse skills? Anybody with a right mind would not upload their real Resume into the tool , but rather a cutdown version or even an almost blank Resume with just a heading. The management madhouse continues on.

@6vlk Seems a bit extreme to be referencing UK law in this circumstance, and your contract of employment WILL state something like you have to undertake all reasonable requests, which DXC would argue applies here.

Still, there's no real downside to not responding; like all the other 'mandatory' stuff at DXC. nothing bad happens if you don't do it, other than receive multiple naggings from management.

I just took a look at the SABA skills tool. Firstly like another comment stated, in the UK by law I don't have to upload a CV/Resume - its not part of my contract of employment. If it was, then I need to be advised of the change in terms of employment and this has not been communicated.

On the skills database. I was moved into what they call the 'build' organisation. The skills listed seem to be all technical skills from Microsoft and others that you have to sit exams to be certified. So are DXC going to give me the time to study for all these and then are they going to pay for me to sit these exams. I don't think so. SO I will not be completing this database of skills. Again , no UK law that tells me i have to do this.

I suggest that a potato would provide more than required automation to replace Mikey.

In the UK (I don't know about other countries) there is no legal requirement to adhere to this ridiculous request of uploading your CV/resume (unless they can provide details of why they do not have the original copy you supplied). After all you did provide them with a CV/resume when you applied for the sh@tty job you have now. I say f@ck 'em. If they don't know what job you do and what what skills you are utilising in that job whilst working for them then it really highlights their own ineptitude. Just another example of this comedy of errors which constitutes the Frankenfirm DXC Technologies train wreck.

I've had the same fake resume uploaded to previously HPE's 'skillset' tool and now DXC. It has a bunch of garbage in it with no bearing to reality. I'll sometimes open the file and save it to change the save date so it seems 'current'. So yeah, don't waste any time on it.

We recently had a town-Hall also and a Director also used the term. She also was at least a little honest and stated that as jobs are automated within DXC then those people can move on to other jobs. She neglected to say "within DXC" so as to alleviate any concerns.

Here is an article I read a little of - http://stratacloud.com/blog/software-defined-infrastructure-what-is-it-and-why-is-it-the-future-of-it/

I stopped after this paragraph....

"IT personnel will feel the impact, too. Admin jobs will change and enrich, as more configuring is automated and delegated down to the departmental level. Users will be able to tailor their virtual systems configurations rapidly, both better utilizing their time and increasing processing speed."

...feel the impact... oh yeah, we are and this evolution is just getting started.

Our managers know our strengths and weakness. This not about placing employee's internally it's about who to lay off.

I uploaded my whole resume because I don't care any more. Keep me on GREAT! Let go, not so great, but I'll find something because I always have.

JUST be honest with us. Went to a Town Hall today and it all bull sh*t stuff. Nothing that any technical person could use.

Software defined automated way, what are these people smoking?
