Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

DXC Guadalajara plans and WFRs?

I'm ex-HPE now in DXC for the past 6.5 years. Long story short, same as some other different posts here, a lot of people have been cut or left the company by their own in search of a better opportunities.

Managers have stated that there are no promotions, salary raises or anything and even called for "if you find something better outside, go for it".

I'm located at Guadalajara, Mexico IT office, my boss says that 14 or so contractors are coming to our team to "help" us with the little to none work we have so we - employees - can focus on the real important work... which have not made clear what would it be.

Does anyone knows if there's a plan from DXC to just cut all direct employees and replace us with cheap contractors?

If so, I think I will be serious on proposing myself for WFR as well.

I'm one of your Guadalajara office mates. Between voluntary leaving and lay offs, 30% of the people have left. I have heard that the lease of the building will expire on April 1st 2019, if more employees are leaving, keeping the building will be unsustainable. I haven't heard either about voluntary WFR, as far as I know, L3s choose who is getting laid off based on how much money an employee costs.

Yes,as far as I know it is the plan to get rid of employees and shift to contractors. I saw a slide in a meeting (probably not for your account, but who knows?). It showed US as wave 1 to contractors and wave 2 had countries like Argentina, Czech Republic, Chile and Mexico.

It does make me laugh when they say "Best-Shore" when they actually mean "Cheap-Shore".

Contractors don't get benefits, vacation, or require training and HR support. They don't incur employer taxes, and they can be hired/fired on a whim as required. Perfect for the 'on-demand, right-size, agile, nimble' philosophy espoused by 'management'.

We've been replacing direct employees with 'Best-Shore' ( or cheaper ) resources for years. Why would you think it would stop once they ran out of US/UK resources ? Now the 'Best-Shore' resources are being replaced with Best-Shore Contractors.

Don't wait to get serious about moving on...far better to jump than get pushed. I hope your WFR package is better than the US one that was deliberately reduced to save the company money as they ditched their long-term employees.
