Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

Shakopee: Layoffs Continue

SHK had another round of layoffs this week, primarily focused on engineering and some significant upper management. This was a smaller layoff, similar to the Christmas Layoff - about 15 people.

There is no end in sight to the trickle of random dismissals. We've been told our "footprint" is still to large, so we wait to see who will be shown the door next quarter -or sooner! Work conditions are poor. Moral is non-existent. Remaining employees are numb and shell-shocked to the round of next layoffs on the horizon. The remaining people must pick up the slack, as most support departments have been liquidated. Who is making these slow-death decisions? What is the long-term goal? When will the building will be shuttered?

Where is the asymptote? Easy. It is a line with slope m = -1. Don't know (or care) what the y intercept is. The X (time) intercept is DUN SOON. THAT'D BEE WHEN DA POPULAYSHUN of dem workers is zero. So watch the movie GET OUT, then you best GET OUT a Seagate before they dun lay off your azz.

Ok. I admit it. The engineer in me is trying to fit a curve to that data set. Where is the asymptote?

No more layoffs until next fiscal year. Threshold has been met. Can breathe easy for next 6 months.

Wasn't SHK supposed to shut down completely? That was posted on this site previously.

To work around regulatory checks. The affected number from 1 single cut might get probes from local authority.

Footprint is just another way of saying "personnel". They are just saying that the op ex/personnel count is to high so they are just laying off people. The only question I have is why not just make the cut one time rather than the trickle approach they're doing now?

So in regards to the "Foot print" comment, does anyone here know what the "Foot print" is supposed to be or is this just another way to dodge the question, like when do you plan to shut us down completely???

Person is correct. Layoffs are becoming such a norm at this site that it’s effect is a moral hit. You seem to be trolling for some attention.

LOL.

I am neither numb nor shell shocked. Work conditions are not poor. Go to your own layoff page, you WDC spamhole.
