Which year are you living in, still using the term "wintel"?
“It’s a lack of humility”. Those four words say it all!
From the CEO down thru most of senior management this is the common theme of having a monopoly for their whole career. There is no paranoi, no respect for other ideas or belief they are wrong. Intel has won even when it is inferior or worse wrong because of its monopoly.
That thinking runs deep through all of senior management and until they get an outside CEO and a strong BoD they will continue to bungle alone.
Sadly the market is partners are fed up and many strong options are appearing.
It could go like IBM or Kodak, time will tell
