Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

why follow the money when our culture is flowing into the drain

let's face it. Dell is too weird. When a weird always changing but not really changing company eats a clear cut not perfect but clear functional based company then continue business as usual like nothing had happened for a year when the elephant in the room is growing into turf wars and culture shockwaves by shockwaves, people are bound to suffer at both sides. Hostile takeover should act like one.

"keep the same failed leadership"

dont worry they will get training. Every year the failed management gets second, third, fourth, tenth chance and paid vacation training. They will get better at failing. Our own manager says a certain training gives no value and just attending on orders

More legacy EMC Consulting/Professional Services got whacked today. Expect it to continue, I don’t think Consulting makes it to the end of the year...

“I still feel we are operating like two entities.”

Agree. Take the ConsultingProfessional Services groups for example. Dell management, like EMC leadership before it, has no idea how to sell/build Consulting/Professional Services. Instead, Dell places its fate in the hands of the same failed leadership that has been slowly driving it into the ground over the past 5 years. To put a cherry on top, Consulting Sales has no idea what consulting services are and how to sell it let alone partner with the hardware/software sales teams. So we let consultants go and keep the same failed leadership from professional services and sales to further drive this business to crater. No accountability whatsoever only continuous streams of WFR’s because, you know, that will turn the ship around.

Dell, in the mean time, does not understand why you can’t sell services like laptops! Wheeeeeeeee!

Oriental Company you obviously have EMC mixed up with another. I is a good old boy network yes but its run by Boston Southies who like most east coasters think anyone not from NY or Boston is a fool. Dell is much the same, the cult of Michael is phony just a bunch of kiss a-- folks most of whom have never worked a day at any company but Dell and are myopic at best in the their world and business views. Dell is not an Elephant its a wombat chasing its own myths of greatness and tail.

Oh c'mon EMC was no pretty flower neither it's culture was.. There was fragrant ol'-boys-club attitude at EMC and all the new positions were given through ol'chum's network. What are somebody skills did not matter much, what mattered at EMC was licking the a-- of the right people like in any oriental company..
