Dell was really stupid to acquire EMC for $67B! They should have just given the Compellent team a couple of Billion $ to out due everyone else in the storage field. They have superior products to EMC and have proven that but EMC now calls the shots and have been cutting Compellent projects in place of developing cyclone and any other piece of garbage the want to work on. Sorry to see the good storage products that Dell had be thrown away and now have to find a new storage vendor.

Good luck Dell on pulling the cyclone away from the money drain that you were foolish enough to pay too much for.

forget cyclone whole of Dell EMC storage is in trouble. JC has now started exercise on getting the headcount baselined. Every manager in storage (yes only storage not server, desktop or networking) is now asked to provide the details of his/her reportees and what product line he/she is working on. This is a strange exercise because this data is already available through the business heads. What this shows is that JC doesn't trust the storage leadership and wants direct updates from individual managers of their reportees. Why this data is being collected is a no brainer. there are going to be decisions mainly regarding cost cutting which will be derived from this data. so look forward to huge cuts in storage across product lines and sites.

with turf wars going on, some of the EMC and even Dell side management as well shuts down and become irresponsive and just downright unapproachable and without updates. Dell had to bring in new leads for this reason.

Cyclone is not in trouble rather mres sales is in trouble. Cyclone and people working in cyclone are all happy lot. The program was conceived to give employment longevity to EMC storage engineers after the acquisition. Dell management was hoodwinked and there is little they could do as EMC was in driving seat and they dictate terms in the storage technical vision. They even wanted to finish the highly profitable Dell SC series. It was a game of one upmanship. But Dell slowly realized the con and brought in JC. JC again has his shortcomings in understanding Storage and he has to deal with sophisticated tecnocons. Now the cyclone program is a deep mess. Their earlier commitment is screwed and program is delayed by so 6 months. go figure how a program can be delayed for such lengths. And Dell management is in the horns of a dilemma. So much sunk costs already gone into the program and if this program is stopped Dell engineering has no offering in hci space whose market share is eaten up by competition. It's a downhill ride for Dell storage. They are skcrewed big time and expect large layoffs this year in other product areas to pay for cyclone goofup. Amen.
