Anybody here knows when and how is severance paid out? Is it all one lump sum or is it paid in installments? And how long between the moment you were laid off and the moment you receive the payment (or its first part?)
Unless I was just thinking that if the transfer isn't immediate, it could leave some people in quite a lurch.

I was laid off last year. My severance was paid in a lump sum at the next pay period.
In India, it is 21 days. However, gratuity is not paid, unless and until raise a request for it.
