Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Voluntary layoffs?

Anybody knows if Windstream ever offers voluntary layoffs? Like many here, I'm tired of having no job security and I'm more than willing to move on, but I'm too scared to do it without some safety net - which would be provided by a severance package.

Volunteering for the next round could save the job of somebody who actually wants to stay. Anybody knows if this is a possibility?

You can lay yourself off but don’t expect WIn to pay you.

I'm sorry to hear you're suffering. Thankful that I was let go and that I did get a severance. The prolonged pain of not knowing what the actual state of the company is vs the portrayal of rainbows the company chooses to advance makes it more difficult. Best of luck.

There are groups that are offered multiple chances for voluntary layoffs every year. Yours obviously isn’t one of them. They’ll just dump you when they see fit. Good luck

Steam is an intranet social media platform for internal use only. Manily it's a place where a$$ kissers s--- up to the countless number of VPs, SVPs, and higher ups. If you are looking for a job look else where don't climb on this sinking ship it's not worth it. Windstream is running at a 1:5 manager to front line employee ratio right now... Nothing is getting done and these managers can't figure out how to make a $1 out of 15 cents.... Stay away!

You can request voluntary layoff on stream. The normal turn around time for the CEO to respond is 15 minutes.

Give him your cell block number and he will have his guards let you go free.

Or they wait you out. If you have talent and ask for the RIF they may just wait you out given that they know you can get another job. What's in it for them? Milk some more productivity and avoid severance/risks. If you just give up on the job they can also fire you with cause, so be careful after volunteering if they reject you. Also helps them avoid clawing back severance if they catch you double-dipping and employed elsewhere soon after. Not sure how aggressively WIN pursues that but wouldn't put it past them, severance isn't an earned right its given (don't shoot messenger).

The voluntary severance packages should be brought back along with other options like reduced pay for reduced load (ex; 4 day weeks for a couple quarters). Lots of folks would jump on that but these programs aren't free there is a cost to administer them, HR is probably already threadbare given the tone of this board regarding internal practices.

Informally talk to your manager, I've known people who have done this in the past to get a cash out and find something else.

Tell them the next time they have to give up someone that you want to be it, you will want them to give you a heads up so you can start looking though. This would only work well if both of you trust each other to keep your mouths shut on an upcoming layoff.

Your sentiments sound so familiar...everyone you speak to wants out...tired of the constant turmoil, just when you think morale couldn’t get lower, it does! Good luck!
