Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Too much IQ, not enough wisdom...

There's some folks on Stream that want to be fired and call it retaliation. Convinced of this.

It's hard to wrap your head around I know, but marketing/advertising matter even when your stock has tanked. Every aspect of a business doesn't grind to a halt with a reduction in force. WIN is trying to re-brand BECAUSE IT KNOWS IT HAS TO FOR SURVIVAL. Get over it.

Regardless, CEO is out of touch. Too much IQ, not enough wisdom or people skills to be effective leader. If the stock were going gangbusters of course all this would stay under radar. Crisis exposes who the real players are.

Peter Principle in full effect across WIN right now.

Glad I’m gone after reading all these posts. One thing I did take exception to was the idea that dedicated and hardworking people are not getting whacked. That is the problem when a company looses its way. Good people are caught up in bad circumstances. Best wishes to all but be prepared for the worse.

Can someone post what TT said?

TT should be escorted out the door..this CEO has created a hostile environment and I believe that this type of behavior is subject to and including termination! His lack of respect towards his employees along with his continual insults towards employees has created animosity within the company! Not sure who or if this Company can be turned around...good luck to all!

The stream ordeal tells you TT is on his way out. The masses have lost respect to TT and he will be shown the door without a bonus. Possible Clawback instigated from shareholders lawsuits when it’s all said and done.

I agree with TT. It’s not a prison. If all you want to do is complain and be negative, try not to let the door hit you too hard, where the good lord split you on the way out.

Stop trying to bring the dedicated hard workers down and get the h*ll out!

People like you trash talkers are no good....and when we read your cr*p you post here and there, in our minds we say “What a tool.” and hope you are the next to go, in the next round.

No minion or a snowflake here- just an honest realist. Grow up or get out and move on.

What kills me is they encourage you to use Stream but you better like everything that’s written on there. Better tell all the managers how great of an idea it all was. Not one single person that writes the “good” stuff on stream has a single freaking clue what everyone on the customer service level has to deal with everyday. CS level being our poor techs that have to face these mad a$$ people everyday and the reps that are forced to sale this junk or else lose their jobs. The assignment/sag/btac reps that have to FIX all the crap orders that Tier 1 in India does but that was a great idea. Ship our sh!t out so we have to reassign every dam thing all day long. TT has no clue what we do and I am praising the two guys that complained on stream about what we actually endure on a daily basis. Did everyone know that those two guys are banned from posting on stream now? Yep, they are READ ONLY bc TT don’t want anyone to know what a sh!t a$$ company we actually have. Kudos to those two CSTs that said it like it was. THE DAMNN TRUTH!

You really have to wonder what the end game strategy is for TT and the BoD? In 2010, !et's try the CLEC business. No, wait a minute, data centers are hot, so let's buy Hosted Solutions. No, bad idea, let's sell them. Ah, a telecom REIT, yes that'll do it! Let's build out the fiber network to the West Coast so we can compete with everyone else on cheap wavelengths. Wait, wait, maybe just maybe SD-WAN and UCaaS are the secret tactics to achieve strategic success. Can you say, "grasping at straws"?

Maybe their strategy truly is to sink WIN into the ground, but why?

Making comparisons to how he may or may not behave at home is pointless in this situation. WIN is re-branding/changing direction (whatever you want to call it) and the OP is spot on that advertisement does not stop.

Struggling paycheck to paycheck? why does that matter who goes where on their vacation? I understand that timing of the layoff and blog of his vacation left a lot to be desired, but quit coming here to whine about how much windstream s---s and tt is a crook because you can't budget your household.

Point 1. Y'all say windstream pays low wages. Is that what you deserve based on your skills/experience? If yes, stfu and go get a cert and/or a degree. If no, find a better paying job.

Point 2. Y'all come here pontificating on how this company should be run. Have you brought your ideas and suggestions to the table, like maybe during an all hands call or blog post? Don't give me that crap about your manager shutting you down, if you have not figured out how to communicate past your manager by now then you have other issues.

Point 3. There are a lot of kool-aid drinkers in the company. Just look to see who is first to like and reply to a TT blog post. It's like that everywhere.

Point 4. the company owes you nothing. some positions and roles have better pay/benefits than others. welcome to real life, snowflake.

Point 5. Complaining is not suggesting.

Point 6. Find a new job and be happy. you do not deserve to put up with this stress.

Point 7. be positive. be positive that you'll eventually get laid off at some point in your career and it's not the end of the world.

WIN was a good ride and I am glad it is over.

I wonder when he has problems at home if he tells his wife and kids this house is not a prison, if you don't like how I run it you can leave. Such an arrogant little man he is.

Culture will not change at windstream unfortunately. Talking heads like comments to show that they liked them even when they don’t care. “I want Tony to see I’m a team player”. This feeds his enormous ego. He is the executioner and y’all are all standing in line. He don’t care, his goons don’t care. Just be compliant in lunch and take your ladder safety on time, the hell with the rest

I felt like I was watching a father trying to belittle their child, or felt like I was in high school again. They keep saying that stream is a useful collaboration tool for people to share their ideas and concerns in a constructive way. Nailed that one on the head.

Just shows how mangement thinks around here. If it's not their idea, or your view differs from theirs, then they take it as a personal attack on them.

I get it. Marketing and sales have their own budgets. They budget things like trips and sponserships. But the optics on how this is viewed is the point that they are missing. It would be one thing to say "look at this resort trip and race car with our name on it" and then a month later, do job cuts. Not easy to take, but better than "we need to cut 150 mil and cut jobs, and reduce this, and that, blah blah blah.....Oh look, we now have a nice trip planned and a car with our name on it!" Makes for a harder pill to swallow.

I mean nothing bad by this, but I wish they could take out the call centers, sales reps, and other desk job employees, and those with their names on their door, and for once just survey the employees in the field. The CST's, NT's, plant engineers, etc.....I think they would get a much better understanding of what's going on in this place.

Once again, not saying anything bad, but it is very disheartning when all you see is desk jockeys liking everything that the leadership posts, and them drooling all over the key boards cause they can't wait to type about how amazing and brillant the leadership is, and then see a tech who has to deal not only ever hindering policies the leadership puts in to place on a daily basis, and then dealing with the customers who hate the company (not the local techs, just the company) be talked down upon as though they mean nothing to this company.

Before you say it, I know that's true, but they don't have to be so blatant about it. Remeber, the one that commented on the post we are talking about, was the same one they jumped on in a post post months ago because all the person wrote was a recap of what was said and followed it by "fantasy island". The tech was quickly reminded that they felt he wasn't abiding by the stream posting policies. Yet TT can comment and tell them they are a negative person, and talk down to them and it is perfectly fine.......to old "do as I say, not as I do"

The post you’re referencing was a real miss on TT’s part. It was rather sick to read his response to a fellow employee. That could have been an excellent moment to show leadership and inspire. Instead he basically told the employee this isn’t a prison...we don’t lock our doors...leave if you see fit. Horrible. I believe that’s an excellent “view” into how our culture has become so toxic.

TT could have used that post as a chance to understand what is happening inside the company. Instead it was a giant STFU moment.

When you have to clean your co-worker's desk out, box up their belongings and ship them off, there's a certain reality that sets in. We don't enjoy multimillion dollar salaries and hiking in the French Alps. A lot of people here struggle from paycheck to paycheck.

What could have been a great chance to interface with the rank and file, to admit the pain, angst, and uncertainty that surrounds us.... Well, TT dropped the ball. Poor leadership.

And it's good to see who the Kool-aid drinkers are. What a bunch of pathetic, brown noses.

And you wonder why there's a morale problem?
