Massive layoffswill be coming in March in advance of the new fiscal year. The current rumour is that this will be the single largest layoff in company history.
No group will be spared. Denver and Bellevue engineering offices are expected to be closed. Brad Surak (former GE Digital Chief Operating Officer who was one of a handful of people responsible for Predix) apparently has even decided to layoff the entire engineering team behind Hitachi's Lumada IoT Platform.
Are they closing Denver office? How is that going to impact people who work in that office?
Indeed there were some layoff's but an Orchestrated Collapse? Please - that is a little conspiracy theoryish..... The company is indeed going through a transformation, and like all transformations it can be a little painful. The analogy of mainframe to storage is a good one, and the company is transforming from storage to IoT, however IoT doesn't keep the lights on yet!!! So re-group and make sure our current portfolio is sound and our Customers are getting support and the sales folks are selling what's on the truck!!!
The layoffs started yesterday and they are indeed massive, in the Americas, no department was spared, even thou I do not have a number in some locations the reduction was ranging from 20%-30%.
Senior management, lower management and Individual contributors were affected. They are saying that project "Mirai" is the driver for the layoffs.
