Thread regarding Sears layoffs

How’s everyone’s cross training going?

Seems like I’m doing more training of others than getting my own cross training!

And by training others it’s hard to keep up with my own tasks since I’m only part time

After 60 days, are the newly trained people going to switch and do their new tasks by themselves?

Anyone know what happens after 60 days ( providing Eddie hasn’t pulled the plug on the entire empire)

We never received a pamphlet and what speech are you talking about? Our SGM just told us about the changes and handed out copies of the new job descriptions for the the Store Support Team. He did say there was training that we need to complete as soon as possible but there was no mention of 60 days. I am so swamped with tasks I don't know when I will have time for any formal training. We are basically trying to do hands on training with each other whenever we have a chance.

@RVhIwRx-2pej Indeed it does, but I don't know about your management, but in my store they expect you to already know the stuff. Even after 60 days you won't know the stuff properly just to much to learn takes a while to just properly adapt. However they expect you to basically already know the stuff right on hand.

Have absolutely no time for quality cross training while trying to keep up with regular and ongoing tasks. By the way, the 60 day thing is not company policy. They want you to finish your training as soon as possible. No one mentioned or knows anything about a 60 day deadline in our Sears store.

We all know Lambert is running the company into the ground, but some of the sgm's are also running these stores into the ground. These sgm's need to get off their a-- and help out too since the staff is so bare.

Cross-training is just retail code for "We're reducing the head count, so we expect you work more for same pay."

Whenever some workplace, especially in retail, starts spouting the cross-training nonsense, expect layoffs.

It's one thing to do it to cover vacations and such, but not on a permanent basis. That's crap.

Yeah, they either want you to train or be cross trained and still keep up with the normal tasks you do!

Seems like I’ve done more training in ad set than receive any cross training

Shouldn’t management be doing the training since they know so much!!

I've got my dosage of training. The biggest thing I've taken away from it all is that you'll face double the demands and double the work with no pay increase.

I've also learned that it's a great time to say, "So long, Sears!" because of the improving economy with tons of better paying jobs with growth and a future.

Guess we'll just have to see. At my store people intend to stick with their regular positions as much as possible.
