Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

"I moved on and it was the best thing I ever did!"

I see so many of these posts and my first thought is, "If you left a year ago and are happy, what are you doing hanging out on GE's layoff board in the middle of a workday?"

If I left and was happy, I'd be far too busy and engaged in my new job to give even a passing thought about what's going on at GE or its layoff forum.

So I call BS to these posts, who are either trolls who were let go and want us to quit as a twisted sort of revenge on GE, or it's management/HR trying to get us to quit because, well, they need to get rid of people and it's far easier when they volunteer.

If it was not for people's lives getting ruined I would enjoy the obliteration of GE. The arrogance of the management was astounding when they came and pontificate to us at Alstom. Their theatrics were amusing.

I’m one of the people who have a better post GE job and I check this because I spent a couple of decades there, have a few inventions to my name and miss the company. I took a buyout last year since everything was getting f---ed up but I am curious about the gossip still.

It's entertaining watching GE fall apart and the desperation that goes with that. Even better doing this in the comfort of having a great job in a stable, progressive company working with people who are educated and mature. Keep the drama going boys and let it rip with the train wrecks.

@zeo - "hope that the lazy people are being laid off"? They were all promoted to VPs! Who do you think has been asleep at the wheel all these years?

I left Honeywell a few years ago and took a job with GE, I still check the Honeywell site a few times a month to see what is up.

"So I call BS to these posts"

That's fine. Whatever. I find for myself that I still identify as GE person and I have a lot of friends that still work there. I enjoy seeing the company evolve in these posts and respond when the mood strikes me. YMMV.

I do agree that the trolling is silly but that's the way the internet is. Good luck to you.

Ha, yeah buddy. You go ahead and stick around GE where you will be asked to do the job of three people for the same amount of pay as one with no hope for a raise.

I mostly check this board to keep a pulse on the rumor mill at the place many of my friends are still working.

I'll admit, though, there is another reason. I honestly really enjoy the idea GE laying off all of the lazy man-children that spent their days leaning on their toolbox and playing angry birds on their phones because they thought GE would never touch their seniority level,

There's people working at GE getting paid $30 an hour who do the absolute minimum every single day. Missing a part from their kit? They won't tell anyone, instead they'll sit around for 3 hours until some overworked supervisor asks why nothing is being build. "I didn't have my parts."

It's a miracle GE managed to keep their reputation for as long as they did.

Ok, you got us - It's all B.S.!! Please, DON'T quit! You might want to stick around for all the fun of a dying company. GE and it's leaders spent recent years pontificating how great it is all while misleading investors and employees. Poetic or Cathartic justice for those laid off? Possibly both, but I'd say most reading these board are just concerned for the well being of the good employees, friends and colleagues that had nothing to do with the current state of GE.

Best of luck to you and I'll still be looking at this board from the comforts of a better job!

I spent countless hours in the office for Alstom and GE. I saw the lazy bastards who worked there.

Of course I have a look on this board now and then and hope that the lazy people are being laid off. Hopefully they can get a job a McDonalds.
