The general release section seems exceptionally broad including releasing from federal civil rights, disabilities, and medical leave acts. I also have many questions on the value of the severance package given that I worked full time for the majority of my employment, but was currently part time, and the severance seems to be related to my current pay. Also I don't see how we are getting paid out our vacation and time off that was due.

Have a friend who is labor attorney look at severance package he didn't find any discrepancy
Do you think they will negotiate your agreement? You are basically waking away from severance. Be realistic.
What I am wondering is how long have they known. B&N did not replace 3 of the positions listed in the layoffs, that was almost 3 months ago. Then hours got cut and new job assignments almost a month ago. Borrowing privileges got suspended before the holidays. Anyone else store do this?
Yeah sorry, no way I'm just trusting and signing whatever corporate gave us without at least having someone review it first.
You have no case.
I hope someone does take this to a lawyer. I think Barnes violated the WARN - Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notice Act and it looks like if you sign this severance package, you sign away your rights. Please, someone take this to a lawyer before signing. You may be able to find an employee rights lawyer who will do this pro-bono for you and you can sue the pants off Barnes. They are hoping that everyone just signs away because they know the people they laid off need the money, but please someone take this to a lawyer and have them look in to it. Something is off about this whole thing.
