Non-compete clause?

Am I reading this right? Is there a non-compete clause in the paperwork for severance?

I think the lists were likely errant inclusions.

Agreement that arrived today does include a non-compete with Amazon and Book-a-million. Also forbidden from poaching any employees currently at BN for a year.

The list of employees some are receiving is just a list of the ages of the workers that were let go. I believe it is just to show that there wasn't any age discrimination involved. No actual names or store numbers were listed. I'm assuming either individual state laws determined whether you received the list or only workers over a certain age received it.

In mine, it said we couldn't work at BAM or Amazon for 6 months. It said a lot about teade secrets, but what are we gonna share? How to fail?

The validity of a non compete clause depends on the state. If you got one in your package, your best bet is to talk to a lawyer before you sign.

I didn’t see that. But I’m in California. Are we getting different severance package agreements by state? Someone else mentioned theirs coming with a list of laid off employees but I did not get that in mine.
