Good for you. It’s a blessing in disguise. Take the layoff package and move on. The rest of us wait for our turn to come, or the company manage to flip its state one day.

For those of you who think this is nonsense, I wish it happen to you too.

I can't tell you which site I'm from because there are only few person affected here and they sure know who am I

My department were shut down last December, I wonder why they give me extra 3 months

If it is a mass lay off they have to notify in advance in California state. But in majority states don’t have to notify.

Actually they do notify in advance if the business needs the employee to stay on for a certain length of time for continuum of work or hand off for site closure.
