What does it exactly mean for the current employees there?

Correct the closing Erie
Thanks for the rational voice, @RLclrdH-qdi
One other option that exists is GET getting spun off as their own business (vs. being bought by another company). That may be the best outcome for GET employees (Erie and elsewhere), as there's no risk of redundant positions.
Crossing fingers that's the way it goes...GET is a solid company in its own right. Profitable, just not as growth-oriented as JF wants, I suppose...

Thank you for the informative posting. Fake news posters have too much time in their hand.
Why does somebody keep saying fake news on all these type postings. Are they not paying attention. GE is selling Transportation division. John clearly announced it at Nov. 13th investor call. What they are in the process of doing now is moving back to vertical so anybody that is looking to buy can see as stand alone company. Next they will be working on getting financials in order and clear some debt off books (like pensions). Unfortunately some layoffs may be coming for this effort. Hopefully that will not happen as many have already happened. When someone else buys GE employees will go with the new company. GE has sold off many pieces and the employees go with the sale. I was told salary employees can't transfer out to other divisions anymore. Hourly will go with sale. It may turn out that you end up we end up with a better company. Keep your fingers crossed.
Not what we are hearing..
There not selling erie. Just more FAKE news.
