Thread regarding Sears layoffs

In case of a fire.

I was taking some boxes to the back room and my jacket caught the "pull in case of a fire" box and ripped it off the wall. two wires were exposed and I thought for sure the alarms were going off. To my dismay they were not. I told QMT that was running around and he said.... " lets keep that between us" OMG I opened my eyes to all the policy violations that was going on around us. That was a week ago. the box was put back up on the wall but I am not confidant that it is in working. Someone put a sign on it saying "in case of a fire you can pull this to make your self to feel better but save some time and call 911 for us please"

If you are in California call CALOSHA and the Fire Department immediately especially if the emergency doors are chained and locked. That is a MAJOR violation. One of the Sears stores in our district did that and all hell broke loose. CALOSHA and the Fire Department stood there and made the Store Manager take off the locks and chains immediately. They then fined the store big time. The fine was allocated to the store and came right of the top of the profit.

Our emergency doors have chains and locks on them to prevent theft. I wonder if that is a fire violation

Unlikely. For a security system usually a break causes activation.

Exposed wires shouldn't cause an alarm. They would need to be touching to do that.

You may want to anonymously report that to OSHA. Its going to be on your conscience if people die.
