Reuters: Enbridge seeks to double its initial target for asset sales

Feb. 15, 2018 4:05 PM ET|About: Enbridge Inc. (ENB)|By: Carl Surran, SA News Editor

Enbridge (NYSE:ENB) plans to accelerate its divestment program by selling assets valued at ~C$8B (US$6.4B) this year, more than twice its initial sale target, Reuters reports.

Under pressure from both investors and rating agencies, ENB wants to ramp up the sale of non-core assets from C$3B it forecast in November, according to the report.

ENB is said to be working with an investment bank to sell Canadian and U.S. renewable energy assets worth more than C$2B and seeks to offload Canadian midstream assets, largely the result of last year's merger with Spectra Energy, that could fetch as much as C$4B.

If Kindermorgan’s TMX pipeline is built, there will be no incremental volume for Line 3. A 8 billion dollar pipeline will have a return of 3%. How come this company continues to increase dividend? It could be another Kindermorgan.

Focus on long term. Fundamentals are strong and good path ahead with divestitures. Stock price will recover. The IPLE guy told me so

It is a shame that we will be losing some valuable assets but we need to ensure we don't lose our most valuable asset - the combined skills and technical expertise of IPLE. Losing physical assets through a sale at least generates capital, but losing the subject matter expertise in terminals, hydraulics, flow path knowledge and projects will absolutely damage the revenue generating ability of Enbridge for years to come. Management must understand this risk and take steps to protect their most crucial assets.

It is really a big mystery why he is still CEO up to this time. Looking at the stock price alone, the board should have fired him 2 years ago. Are they still looking at him to bring up the stock price ? He has proven himself incapable so what is the board waiting for ?

Because the stock price is tanking, big Al is being pressured to get rid of even more non-performing and/or low return assets. How does he still have a job? A revolt at the forum would be awesome. I would pay good money for that.
