Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Wife was laid off today - 15+ years of service

She was bleeding blue, believed the brand, believed in GR. I'd complain (I work for HPE) about both HEP and IBM, she'd always protect IBM - today, her eyes opened up.

I hope you see what's going on as well. Be careful, plan your career, hedge your bets and best smart - look out, network, be ready to move.

I wish the "So proud to work for IBM" commenting morons could read this post to see what they have in store. Let's see how proud they are when they are let go.

SimonSimona, I empathize with your wife's predicament because I was also let go at IBM several years ago after eight-plus years of hard work and service with Big Blue. I drank the Kool-Aid and believed in the company but in the end IBM is a business seeking to make a profit at whatever cost, irrespective of the dedication and loyalty of its employees.

If it's any consolation, please let your wife know there are greener pastures outside IBM. In hindsight my departure from IBM was a blessing in disguise: I earned a master's degree and landed a better job with far less stress at another company after leaving IBM. She might be devastated at the moment but remember to offer her moral support and remind her to be strong. Things will definitely improve. Hang in there. :-)

Hey mark.j.english@ampf.com the ambulance-chasing financial planner. Back off trying to profit from these people who have just received this devastating news to try to profit from them or hopefully folks will flood you with bad reviews on google and other sites. Have some class.
