It’s hugely ambitious but Paal just announced that the blue rig of the future will not require any personnel onsite and will be operated remotely from strategic control centres around the world. This will have a huge impact on increasing profitability for the company and shareholders. If you want to be the employee of the future then get a job in the SCC.

Is he behind the hugely successful nowegian motion picture "Sniffer"?
Paal is a CEO of the future
Our company needs more money to payback all those multi billion dollar debt write offs in Latin America so it has to come from somewhere. Don’t expect upper management to pay back their bonuses for all that revenue growth with bankrupt Latino clients so they only thing they can do is find the next great idea and try and sell it to investors. The positive side of this for employees is that the rig of the future has been this for past 20 years so it’s unlikely to become a rig of the present for a long time. Just another pipe dream from Paal to keep his job
What a truly inspirational leader we have in the company. Always working with the best interests of his people and their families. Thank you Paal.
The people in scc will only be data operators with a skill level one step up from a monkey not wishing to be condescending.
In 2010 or so they pulled the plug on a Windows based version of mfg/pro. Spent $35M and called it off.
I wonder what will happen to the aramco morning reports showing zero Saudi headcount on slb rigs...
Yeah right! Schlumberger cannot even get their current computer systems right and some of it is dos based. MFG Pro is a disaster and QUEST is totally ridiculous, both are dated. Interestingly, after this revelation, the share price dropped by 1.5%. The management just don't get it.
Again, the guy lives in a different planet.
