Thread regarding Barnes & Noble Inc. layoffs

Why am I still here?

With all uncertainty and injustice, I ask myself why am I still working here.

What are your thoughts?

I've been asking myself the same question for an entire year now. The only thing preventing me from quitting is that I haven't been able to find anything else that would be any different from B&N. So, I'm stuck here in the meantime. I frequent job sites everyday almost.

I agree! You want to stay there in the meantime, by all means, but I would highly suggest you start looking for something else. That is a sinking ship and you don't want to go down with it over sentimentality or anything like that. As the previous poster said, enjoy your memories but the heck out of there if you can.

Leave. ASAP. It’s only going to get worse. You aren’t the linchpin, you aren’t going to safe this company. They decided on this course of action before they hired Demos. There is no turning away from store closings. As soon as Demos brought in his new exec team, you knew Len agreed with whatever he had planned. Enjoy your memories, but don’t feel obligated to go down with the ship. If you think BN is going to honor their core values of empathy for you or your position (or loss of position), respect you as an actual person, take responsibility for their employees, and keep you as part of a non-existent team, you are wrong. Lift your head from the fog of propoganda and get out while you’re still employed.
