Do they just tell you to leave? Who's communicating it and how? How long does that take?

My SM was heartbroken delivering the news and after speaking to me and the RM, he let the employees who were there know what was happening. I was able to say goodbye to everyone and then left. All our stores will be hurting without us and I think its going to have a huge affect on customers. I still cant process whats happened yet.
I was asked to not say anything as I was leaving as not everyone had been informed. However, due to the terribly planned schedule, It was only my sm, me (rm) and one merch manager at the store that morning. It was very obvious what was happening. Therefore I got to say goodbye to one person. One person out of all the years I put in and all the staff at that store.
I was not escorted out. I was allowed to say goodbye to anyone if I wanted.
Yep, got called in to meet with SM, he read his script. Explained the severance package. Escorted me back to the back room to get my personal belongings and walked me out. Didn't get to say a word to anyone else. Had just busted my a-- and reorganized the entire back room too, wish I could see some part timers bust their asses like I did for years to keep up
Was told 3 hours into my shift. Pretty obvious how uncomfortable and sad my manager was. Not his choice.
Given paychecks and sent home
Corporate want managers to perform at high levels and then strip away their tools. The passionate, loyal employees.
@RI3oLHN I was on vacation, my store manager called me and asked me in for a "face to face meeting", I knew I was screwed so said "we can do this over the phone", he understands I'm a no bullsugar person so he proceeded with no script. NO ONE SHOULD BE ESCORTED OUT, THAT IS INSULT ON TOP OF INSULT.

They have a script they have to read off. I think it took about 10-15 minutes. The store manager will be the one delivering the news. My store manager escorted them out but I don't know if that was required or not.
I really thought B&N went out of business years ago, but after seeing this post, I guess not.
