Thread regarding Southwestern Energy Co. layoffs

Layoff Consultants

Yes they’re selling Fayetteville. Yes layoffs are coming. They’re bringing in consultants to help determine how to reduce costs and they will give a layoff head count recommendation by discipline. Layoffs will be company wide and no one is necessarily safe.

They will most likely cut a lot of support staff like accountants, BIS, HR, etc...people that are easily disposable and replaceable. They will not relocate headquarters to Appalachia. Most likely will consolidate to one building and the other tower will go dark. Time to update our resumes...

funny how surprised some of these peeps are....spend years being a chronic, habitual liar, get caught in your own lies, abuse the system by being a lazy turd, and think you have people fooled, and then you get booted....and somehow you are shocked?

Unfortunately you can tell who the ones are that run back to Houston with mouth trash. The ones that travel there for a week at a time, possibly “audit”. A-- kissing is the name of the game in Pa. If your not willing to do it and have morals watch out. What a place to work. Ha!

Goodnees Sakes. figure this is a corporate office clown that made the last post and cannot figure out who is the joker on 5. Hmmm the joker on 5 has moved one of us from Pa to spring (then cans them a few weeks ago) and sends a ego kissing corporate clown minion from spring to Pa

There are many jokers on 5. You’ll need to be more specific.

I seen the last few posts, The Pa team wants that “joker on 5” to have 2018 presidents “fart sniffer” award. Relos waste of $$ and added no talent to bench. “thanks joker on 5” for our Hse Leader and enjoy your award

What do you mean Ar buddies will come up here to Pa. it has happened for years. I have watched first “Hse Leader” (Ar) come up here to fish. Second “Hse Leader” (Pa) do some good things and stuff. Third “Hse Leader (Ar) must have kissed a little ego. Wish we could be what we used to be that was a well respected facility

Pa will be all replaced with Arkansas buddies as the "talk" goes. Two left with a new clean out queen in the house now. What was a well respected facility in PA is now an eye sore to the community. Pretty sad, but in the end folks let go will realize the world has more in store for them without having to kiss peoples egos.

I'm not worried about you losing your job either.

There are several people I hope get rightfully kicked to the curb.

"I wish they would start tomorrow. I hate the thought of waiting 10 weeks to figure out if I need a new job or not. They shouldn’t have said anything like that. Just put many in a constant state of worry."

Its because they hope their employees are smart (which 90% of them are not) and will leave to find new jobs on their own. That way, there are fewer people to layoff and fewer severance packages. If you had any sense or real-world skills, you'd be already be on your way out.

You're and idiot. The execs that helped destroy the company are millionaires and will walk away from the company as millionaires as they either retire, or move on to their next million dollar job while everyone else suffers.

"I should have asked why louder than I did!"

...because its secretly a toxic sh---hole of a place to work. You either drink the Kool-Aid and believe its the best place ever, or you realize how crappy it is but stick around for the pension, stock, and free cokes. Btw, please be sure to fill out your workplace survey so we can make the Chron's list of top 100 places to work in Houston.

What's really funny, is on Jenny McCauleys first day there was a lunch for birthdays and new hires. She being the new hire executive, she got to sit next to me. She introduced herself and we struck up a conversation. She kept asking me questions about the industry, as she had never worked in it before. She said to me, and I quote "There's a whole new vocabulary I have to learn?" I had to look away to keep from laughing in her face. That was our high powered HR person. There are a lot of good people that got fired in '16 and a lot more to come. I pray that they all find greener pastures out there. The one's i feel sorry for the most are the ones who played politics and rose way to fast. They will have trouble finding jobs as they don't have proper training. Well we at least know why Dewbre left? We need to thank Harold Korral for this mess. He hired Mueller! Mueller hired Way as a recommendation from Jenny McCauley. Strange how things work out?

WAY too many job listings for a company planning on restructuring/layoffs. TOTAL NONSENSE.

Just because they are selling the FS, doesn't many anyone is buying. You should have all seen these layoffs coming since the last round. Nothing has changed and the company has been a toxic wasteland since 2016. There are three kinds of people still left at SWN. #1 - people unable to leave due lack of skill or knowledge. #2 - people that are doing the bare minimum work, hoping they can ride things out and collect those sweet benefits as longs as possible. #3 - people that are in denial and actually think they are doing a great job at great/top rated workplace - hurrrr durrrrr we made duh chron list !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Price used is average prices of the last 12 months per SEC rules.

I think it’s interesting that in the new presentation it says “restructured organization in 2016 to reduce costs”...obviously the layoffs, and then uses the SAME terminology, “organizational changes” as one of our going forward plans.

New presentation on website.

Fayetteville is gone. Wonder what happens when the price received is trash. If sold to a private equity firm, they'll pay PV20 or close - not PV10 on backward prices. No mention of dividends or other returns to shareholders. Not sure how a 1.3 PVI is attained at forward gas prices. Nice omission of gas prices used in the PV10 reserve value. I wonder what the green slice of the chart for 2018 EBITDA on page 6 represents? It is not labeled. My guess is it is estimated cost savings from the layoffs and other cost saving items.

We should all be extremely concerned when our fate is in the hands of BW and JMc. Neither of them know which way is up and are only concerned with staying on the SWN gravy train at all costs. Where else are they going to go and become grossly overpaid for extreme underperformance?

The funny thing is that Billy Dilly is so terrible with money he has to go out and pay overpriced consultants to tell him where he is wasting money. They should just cull the lazy workers that they are going to cull now, that way the hard working motivated employees don't find new jobs before they decide to cull people. By the time Billy Dilly decides to make the cuts he won't have to cut as many and all that will be left are the poor performers who are to lazy to even look for a new job.

Sad to see all of this back-biting. It’s not the SWN I signed on to. I’m sincerely hoping to get a decent severance by quietly raising my hand in order to move on and leave this disaster.

Yeah pretty hard to argue against monetizing Fayetteville, paying down secured term loan and 2022’s, and initiating buyback at this stock price.
