Just received notification at Our Kmart store that the return policy is changing again! Now it will be 45 days for “members” and 30 days for non “members”. Not sure if this is true at Sears yet, but it is being rolled out at Kmart tomorrow.

It’s probably due to do much retail fraud everywhere
Target tracks your returns to determine if you’re abusing their return policy
Consumers need to be more responsible and hold onto their paper receipts
Some people will attach a different tag on a product especially in clothing.. such as a high price ticket on a cheaper and totally different brand, we’ve seen where they even tried to sew in a different brand label in the item and clearly isn’t item being returned but they get a refund by unsuspecting cashier
And some fraudsters out there even have the attacher device to attach the price tag to the garment
Maybe a solution wd be to have a separate return area like other retailers so cashiers can focus on purchases only
We did 90 days for many years. Before that it was 120 days.
Yes, Sears' motto used to be Satisfaction Guaranteed or Your Money Back, and I still remember the fools who tried to return a 20 year old sewing machine based on that slogan. Unbelievable self righteous morons, and they walked out leaving the sewing machine on the floor in electronics (it was also missing most all parts, like the foot pedal/power cord, bobbin, etc.).
I always thought that it should be 90 days for members and 30 for nonmembers. Target is 90 which is where I got my figure. This is a step in the right direction.
You can piss and moan about Sears all you want but this is a very good decision. I agree Eddie s---s and the rest but this is VERY good news for a change.
Sears' motto used to be "Satisfaction guaranteed or your money back". I remember when Sears would give a full refund (sometimes cheerfully, other times not so much because we could tell the product had been way used....) for any merchandise that was in our database. Of course that was pre-transformation. Customer service--what a wacky concept!
It is a good change for members, but I see it this way. In my area their is a lot of "members" that on purpose come close to the 30 days and they make an excuse that the product is defective and get a full refund. I feel its going to be abused more get an additional 15 days than return the product or get a brand new product in exchange.
Wow, Sears Holdings actually made a good decision for once. Imagine that.
Alas, some customers will still complain. They would complain if we had a 6-month return policy.
Probably because they pissed off a lot of customers/members/WHATEVER with their return policy.
Great news......had heard this was going to happen.....glad it did.
That's actually good news for once.
The biggest problem is requiring paper receipts instead of just looking up the purchase in members' accounts.
Just keep giving people more and more reason to stay away.
They prob think they will get more syw sign ups by having a members return policy, but really we are just going to have more pissed off customers and non-members.
Maybe they are slowly going to do away with Shop your way since they pay out to customers more than they take in
With this, we were told paper receipts are required for all returns. We are not to process a return without one, even when scanning a member's card when they don't have the receipt.
Not sure what that is about.
